Who's Tops At The Bottom Line?
In terms of percentage gains in net income, the top performer among the INC. Second 100 is Gerber Scientific (No. 123), which engineered a 36,488% increase in net earnings in the past five years. Barely in the black in fiscal 1976, Gerber closed 1980 with $5.9 million in net income.
Mired at the bottom of the list is AES Technology (No. 145), which continued to suffer serious setbacks in the loss column. The Illinois company's net losses plunged from $251,000 in 1976 to more than $5.7 million in 1980.
The leader in terms of dollars at the bottom line is Thompson Medical (No. 134), which registered net profit of more than $10 million in fiscal '80, up from $2 million five years before.
