Lights, Cameras In The Boardroom
Lunch hour is movie time at Charles River Associates, a Boston consulting firm where screenings take place every two or three months. Movies on all sorts of topics, from chemical process engineering to basketball, are shown free of charge in the company's conference room.
For companies interested in movies for education or entertainment, there's no shortage of free celluloid. The Educators Progress Service of Randolph, Wisc., publishes an annual directory, "The Educators Guide to Free Films," which lists some 5,000 titles indexed by title, subject, and source. Copies are available for $22.05 (postage and handling included) by writing to the Educators Progress Service, Dept. T, 214 Center St., Randolph, WI 53956.
A number of distributors serve as free loan centers for films that range from technical training productions to general interest and travel. The largest of these companies is Modern Talking Picture Service Inc., headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fla., with offices in 23 cities. Another source: The audito-visual department of your local library. The Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, for example, offers 2,500 to 3,000 16mm. titles, including animation shorts, feature films, documentaries, and training aids.
