Where Was Vector?

"A Buyer's Guide to Personal Business Computers" (October 1981) is noticeably lacking a superb and extremely reliable computer. Vector Graphic was rated the number one microcomputer in a recent Computer World survey. Vector was even the focus of a feature in the March 1981, issue of INC. If INC. found Vector worthy of a cover picture and feature story, why does the guide ignore Vector's existence?

EDITOR-NOTE:

When we defined the approach to the article, we decided to talk about computers that cost less than $5,000 -- ones that readers could use to learn about computers rather than ones they might choose for computerizing their businesses. The least expensive Vector Graphic (VIP) costs slightly more than $5,000 when configured according to our guide. It was omitted for that reason alone, and not for any qualitative reasons.
