Another Sailboard

The idea of mounting a sail on a surfboard ("Hoyle Schweitzer's Decade of Discontent," February) is scarcely new. Such a surfboard, with a triangular sail, was a common sight on Lake Temiskaming in northern Ontario when I was a boy. Many residents will recall the lifeguards using it at New Liskeard Beach in the 1940s. I don't know any of the details of the rigging, but it looked like and was used like the ones in your magazine.
