Economic Cop-out
The same day I read John Blundell's article citing St. Louis as an example of a "dying city," the local newspaper printed three letters from visitors who were surprised and enthusiastic about the city's redevelopment.
Apparently Mr. Blundell is completely unaware of the tremendous amount of housing rehabilitation explosive downtown redevelopment, greatly increased tourism and nationally and internatationally acclaimed cultural institutions now present in St. Louis. Since even a casual visit to St. Louis would have revealed what is going on, it is clear that Mr. Blundell's statement was made without the benefit of such a visit.
