You might say the top officers of HCW Inc. enjoy a close working relationship. Robert Glassman, chief executive officer, and John Plukas, president, both work in the same, small office at their company's headquarters in Boston.

HCW, a $16-million real estate and oil-and-gas developer, was founded by Glassman and Plukas in 1975. "People are taken aback when they see our office," says Plukas, "but we find it useful to share the same space. It's more efficient, it saves time, and we communicate better. And we can keep an eye on each other."
