Disagreement With Drucker
I have to take exception to Peter Drucker's remark about government service not attracting good people -- that the typical employee is a time-server.
I'm a member of the U.S. Air Force and proud of it! In my specialty, acquisition/contracting, 62% of the officers in the field have master's degrees and have put in gobs of overtime without any overtime pay. The civilians are the most professional the Air Force has ever seen. Every organization has its barnacles, but in the Air Force, they're far from being a majority on which to base generalizations.
