Supersalesman Or Snake-oil Salesman?
In addition to being hilarious, at least one of Chuck Sussman's confessions is downright sacrilegious (Face-to-Face, February). It is rare to encounter a small-business person admitting to the seat-of-the-pants planning I suspect many practice. Sussman not only admits to it, he extols its virtues, and even cites statistics to back up his claim.
Our company finds our inability to do long-range planning a source of constant anxiety. We are reluctant to make those leaps of faith that are so necessary to planning, but are often fatal to business in the garment industry.
