Creel, president of Houston-based Creel Morrell Inc., a fast-growing graphic-design company. Creel has an assistant who, in his free time, peruses selected publications and marks the pieces worth reading. "He knows exactly what I'm looking for," says Creel. "I trained him." Initially, he explains, they both read the publications, and Creel pointed out the kind of articles he wanted to see. Now, his assistant takes the first pass, allowing Creel to use his reading time more efficiently.
