Beyond The New-age Intelligentsia

An otherwise perceptive article "The Hottest Entrepreneur in America" (February) was unfortunately marred by the groundless contention that new-style entrepreneurialism is suitable only for middle-class, white-collar yuppies.

For instance, a great many dislocated industrial workers are highly capable persons who simply have never had the opportunity to explore their latent talents or draw upon a reservior of creativity.

Here in Ohio, hundreds of dislocated blue-collar workers have been trained in entrepreneurial skills, and the result has been greater self-esteem, increased motivation, and dozens of successful microbusinesses.

If "post-industrial entrepreneurialism" is really the economic boon heralded by its promoters, its appeal will have to extend far beyond the new-age intelligentsia.
