Smokeout, Part 1
Does your company have an official policy regarding the rights of smokers and nonsmokers in the office?
A survey of smoking and nonsmoking managers found that 62% believe office smoking reduces productivity, up from 57% a year ago. However, only 27% of smokers feel this way, compared with 73% of nonsmokers. The number of smokers who agreed that smoking reduces productivity increased by half, from 18% to 27%, in the last survey. Said one manager, "I smoke, but I can see that it interferes with my work." In contrast, another remarked, "The people who don't smoke find lots of other ways to waste time."
