Letter Quality

A company stresses its '0.1 percent customer rejects' on every one of its letterheads.

APRIL 1989

Don't miss an easy opportunity to communicate what's important about your business on your company letterhead.

So says Tom Melohn, of North American Tool & Die Inc. (NATD), in San Leandro, Calif. Across the bottom of NATD's stationery is the statement: "0.1% Customer Rejects Since 1980." This concrete detail about the company's commitment to quality has more impact than an abstract company slogan, he believes.

When customers the company surveyed expressed their incredulity at NATD's low rejection rate, Melohn decided it was just the number that he wanted to keep in front of their eyes.
