Dallas-based flower company plans to open retail stores with centralized delivery and operations.

National competition may soon hit another mom-and-pop industry: flower shops. With more than $5 million from such investors as Federal Express, Dallas-based Flower Country USA plans to open retail stores with centralized delivery and operations, allowing shops to concentrate more on service and rack up higher profits. The first group of stores and central hub opened last November in Dallas.
