Card Systems Testing Laboratory tests the accuracy of magnetic strips on bank and credit cards.

 

A recent Arthur D. Little study turned up defects in almost 10% of the magnetic stripes on plastic credit and bank cards -- bad news for some folks, but good news for Card Systems Testing Laboratory Inc., one of the first third-party card-testing companies. The Fridley, Minn., start-up sells its ser-vices to magnetic-encoding companies, card manufacturers, and banks that issue credit cards. -- Leslie Brokaw
