Many universities ban kitchen appliances from dorm rooms because of the energy draw and the liability exposure, but students often sneak them in anyway. MicroFridge, of Sharon, Mass., is marketing the units to hotel chains and office complexes, as well as universities. Manufacturing is contracted out to Sanyo E & E.
