How's this for a start-up collective: the idea came from Cerulean Fund, a venture capital firm. Students at the University of Chicago's New Product Laboratory investigated it. And the former head of the Chicago High Tech Association is now executing it. The decidedly low-tech service: after-school care centers for 5- to 12-year-olds. The first Kid's Clubhouse opens next month.
