Some folks are morning people, some come to life at night, and others are bubbly all day. If you're in the service business, you want people who have a high energy level all day. How do you find them?

Barry Steinberg, president of $4-million Direct Tire Sales, a retail store in Watertown, Mass., always conducts three interviews with prospective employees on three separate days. One meeting takes place in the evening, a second at midday, and a third in the morning. "I get an indication of their energy level at all hours," says Steinberg. "I want people who are good with customers all day long."
