Sign Of The Times
Start-up creates an invoicing system that allows divorced people to receive support payments without speaking.
If marriages didn't fail, Deborah Hutchison's company would. Hutchison is the inventor of BYX (Bill Your Ex), an invoicing system for divorced people who'd like their support payments without speaking to their former spouses. A motto: Don't kill your ex . . . bill your ex. Hutchison's Studio City, Calif., company, Panther Productions, is targeting the recipients of support payments -- and their lawyers, since the invoice copies provide a paper trail for any legal action. Hutchison says she got the idea for BYX when she discovered that sending her ex-husband invoices improved the timeliness of his monthly checks. Meanwhile, she says she is using those checks to finance BYX's launch.
