Quack cures for companies struggling through economic downturns are a dime a dozen, but here are two sources of sound advice:
* Recession-Proof Your Business, by Lawrence W. Tuller (Bob Adams Inc., 617-767-8100, 251 pages, $9.95), aims to teach companies "how to boost cash flow and make it through tough times with ease." Best of all, the book manages to provide simple-to-follow financial advice that is anything but simplistic.
* "Twenty-seven Performance Tips for Troubled Times" (BusinessVISION, 714-855-6060, free) is 8 pages of practical tips, such as "develop a 'control panel' of real-time performance indicators" that can be scanned daily.
