Direct marketer delivers sales pitches using voice mail technology.
Like many, Cameron Target Marketing, a Chicago direct marketer, used to send out an inordinate number of releases that ended up in the circular file. The company's latest tactic is the Sales Communication Network (SCN), a new media outlet that converts voice-mail technology into a selling tool. Companies wishing to deliver sales pitches or to alert customers of upcoming promotions can purchase a block of SCN message boxes (minimum order 250, at 88¢ per day each) and give them to those they target. What's in it for the end-users? They get to use the system for personal and business voice mail, and receive special-interest programming. Roger Cameron, SCN's creator, expects sales of 25,000 to 30,000 voice-mail boxes in 1992.
