Sabbaticals just seem to agree with some people. The last time Ben Cohen took time off from Ben & Jerry's Homemade, he came back so charged up he immediately launched the nonprofit 1% for Peace. Recently, Cohen returned from a second sabbatical with plans to create the first socially responsible M.B.A. program in the country. "We want to educate a new generation of leaders who will make decisions with two bottom lines in mind: the impact on profit and the impact on the community and the environment," says the ice-cream man. As for the secret to a productive sabbatical, Cohen advises, "Make sure you don't get anything accomplished while you're away from your company. Do absolutely nothing."
