The word around here is that three-time Inc. 500 company Solectron Corp. will appear on next year's Fortune 500. The California-based electronics manufacturer first landed a spot on our list of fast-growing private companies in 1984, with revenues of $33 million. It expects to end the current year with revenues of between $750 million and $825 million, which would give it a very good shot at the Fortune 500: the smallest company on the 1993 list had revenues of $585 million. If so, Solectron will join Microsoft and Gateway 2000 as Inc. 500 companies that have also made the Fortune 500.
