'Stay Out of Court' by Rita Risser discusses all the important points of employment law.
It may feel good to curse the tangle of regulations your company faces, but it doesn't help. If you can't afford a lawyer, use a reliable road map for discrimination and employment law, such as Stay Out of Court, by Rita Risser (Prentice-Hall; 1993; hardcover, $39.95; paperback, $18.95). The book discusses all the important points of employment law, with topics such as sexual harassment and how to safely hire and fire (two of the riskiest actions). There's a chapter called "Your Rights as a Manager" ("the shortest section," Risser jokes). Risser also details touchy topics, such as rejecting applicants, and peppers her prose with anecdotes from her own practice. Catchy title, too.
