A new software program accommodates uneven telecommuting and flextime work schedules.

The latest evidence that this is not your father's workplace? Adaptive Software, a venture-backed start-up in Newport Beach, Calif., has found opportunity in the management nightmares caused by telecommuting and flexible work schedules. In late January the company released a management software tool aptly named PeopleScheduler. "We hit a nerve with this one," says founder Kenneth Forbes III. The $495 package is customizable in both DOS and Windows versions and helps managers keep track of who's in when.
