Some 221 small and large companies said the desire to perform a community service and the recruitment of entry-level workers were the two most popular reasons for participating in school-to-work programs. More than half said students continued to work for them after the program ended. When the companies were asked for their reaction to the statement "Students are productive workers," here's how they responded:

60% Strongly agreed

36% Agreed somewhat

4% Neither agreed nor disagreed

1% Disagreed somewhat

Note: Figures do not add up to 100% because of rounding.
