How two portable business card scanners stack up.

Portable business card scanners have gotten flak for being hard to use and inaccurate. Here are two models that boast improvements on both fronts.

WORLDCARD MAC   CARDSCAN PERSONAL
The WorldCard scans 20 cards a minute in color and reads 19 languages, including Russian, Japanese, and Chinese. HOW IT WORKS The chute-shaped opening keeps cards straight for better accuracy. The device scans 12 cards a minute in black and white.
The scanner has a cable storage spot and a travel pouch to throw in your briefcase. COOL BONUS The CardScan's online database e-mails contacts periodically for updates.
The WorldCard costs $200 and weighs 5.4 ounces. It works with PCs or Macs. DETAILS The CardScan costs $160 and weighs 7.6 ounces. It is compatible only with PCs.
