Aspiring entrepreneurs will get some star treatment with the release of TEN9EIGHT, a documentary opening in AMC theaters this month. The film follows inner-city teens as they take part in a Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship competition. "From a social-movement standpoint, this is the most important film I've ever worked on," says Mary Mazzio, the film's creator....Three-time Inc. 500|5000 honoree Newegg has filed for an IPO. The online computer hardware and software retailer, which posted $2.1 billion in sales in 2008, hopes to raise $175 million in the offering....Melvin Simon, co-owner of the Indiana Pacers and a pioneer shopping-mall developer, has died at 82. His company, Simon Property Group, is the largest mall operator in the country....Google has acquired reCAPTCHA, founded by Carnegie Mellon professor Luis von Ahn. The company provides websites with those squiggly-word tests used to filter out automated spamming. The users' responses help reCAPTCHA decode snippets of text that have eluded character-recognition software, thus "improving our books and newspaper scanning process," blogs Google product manager Will Cathcart....NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire's one-year-old record label, Hypocalypto Records, has launched a series of talent searches to sign up gifted but little-known musicians. "It's a way for us to find top talent without spending a lot of money," he says.
