The Best Voicemail Management Services

Three top options for business users

Keeping track of voice mail messages on various phones can be a pain. We tried three voice mail management services to see if they make the job easier.

EVOICE

This service lets you choose a local or toll-free number and route incoming calls to multiple phones simultaneously. You can manage voice mails in an online inbox and receive transcriptions via text message or e-mail. Business-friendly features include the ability to set up multiple extensions and create custom greetings. COST: Starts at $12.95 a month after a free six-month trial

GOOGLE VOICE

Google Voice also provides one number that rings multiple phones at once, along with voice mail transcription, custom greetings, and an online inbox. It lets you forward audio clips of voice mails and, unlike eVoice, it lets you record calls in progress by pressing a number on your phone. You can press another number to conference in a third party, but we found this feature unreliable. COST: Free

RIBBIT MOBILE

A good choice for VoIP fans, Ribbit Mobile can also route calls to services like Skype. You can make Web calls using your Ribbit account. Ribbit's transcriptions, which are checked by people, were the most accurate of the bunch. COST: Currently in free beta
