How One Entrepreneur Uses Google Wave

I started using Google Wave as soon as I received an invitation last summer. Now my company, which makes collaboration tools for architects and engineers, uses Wave in a variety of ways.

We think of Wave as a giant wiki and use it for anything that we would normally do on a wiki, Google Doc, or e-mail thread. If we're collaborating on a project plan or a document, it's much easier to create and annotate a Wave than bounce a file around via e-mail or even use Google Docs, which requires you to send links to files by e-mail even though they're based online.

Wave can be a great place to store a list of things that need to get done before a product launch. Instead of using a whiteboard, we create a task list on a Wave and allow anyone on the team to cross off things when they've been accomplished. We also use it to keep track of who crosses off the most tasks each week. The winner has to make a nice meal for the rest of us.

What I'm really looking forward to is the ability to set up Wave servers that are independent of Google, so companies can keep the information on Wave private. Since our main product is a collaboration tool, it will be exciting to see how we can integrate it with Wave.
