New software offers companies innovative ways to store and manage data in the cloud.

Now that cloud computing is gaining acceptance, more online database firms are competing to help businesses manage and store information. We tried out the three services below.

INFODOME

An intuitive interface lets you create forms for submitting and managing data by dragging and dropping fields. You can customize apps for tasks like managing inventory lists. A big plus: InfoDome required less reformatting of an imported Microsoft Access file than the other services we tested.
COST: Free for up to five users and 1,000 files of unlimited size

CASPIO BRIDGE

Caspio uses step-by-step wizards to create applications and forms. The steps were easy to follow, but the apps were less polished looking than InfoDome's.
COST: Starts at $40 a month for 1GB of storage and unlimited users

INTUIT QUICKBASE

The most established -- and priciest -- service in our test group, QuickBase offers well-designed, customizable templates for forms and apps. Unlike InfoDome and Caspio, it also lets you track things such as who is accessing data.
COST: Starts at $299 a month for 1GB of storage and 10 users
