Luxurious Long-Hauls
United Airlines, Emirates, and Swiss Air are offering some cool new amenities for first- and business-class travelers, including private cubicles.
Just as airlines are paring down amenities on domestic flights, long-haul trips are getting swanker. Emirates now has 82-inch-long private first-class rooms on its New York-Dubai route. Each room has a lie-flat seat, massage chair, vanity table, and 23-inch flat-screen TV. (Recent price: $8,275 each way.) Not to be outdone, Swiss International Air Lines tapped London's Priestmangoode to design cushy first-class cubicles with fold-down desks, lie-flat seats, and 23-inch TVs. (Recent price: $13,839 from New York to Geneva.) First class too pricey? United Airlines is spiffing up business class as well, with lie-flat beds and 15.4-inch TVs. (Recent price: $4,400 from Chicago to Hong Kong.)
