Jason Pomeranc supplies the creative vision for Thompson Hotels, the luxury chain that he founded with his father and brothers in 2001. They own 10 hotels in the U.S. and Canada, including the new Thompson Toronto. Here are two must-haves for Pomeranc, who divides his time among the various locations.

CONVERSE BY JOHN VARVATOS CHUCK TAYLOR VINTAGE SLIP-ON

"I travel about four times a month. These shoes are great for walking around, and they're easy to get off and on for airport security. Besides being practical, they are visually inspiring. I admire how John Varvatos has re-created a sneaker that is part of our fashion iconography."
COST: $95

HP TOUCHSMART IQ500 PC

"I frequently look at fabric swatches and decorative elements for our hotels. This touchscreen makes it easy to zoom in on objects and move them around. I also like viewing things on a large screen. When I get really focused on the creative process, I like to pace around my office and look at objects from different angles."
COST: $1,299
