Things I Can't Live Without: Fashion Designer Lela Rose

Lela Rose has a broad approach to fashion: The designer's clothing is sold at high-end stores like Neiman Marcus, but she also has a footwear line at Payless ShoeSource. Rose, whose company is based in New York City, spends much of her time traveling to trunk shows. Here are two of her favorite things.

Pylones Bird Scissors

"When I pick up these scissors, the playful design makes me happy. I have several pairs, because I use them so frequently. I even check my bags when I travel so I can take them with me. A lot of our designs incorporate embroidery, so I use the scissors to cut out patterns. They also cut fabric really well. I like them so much that I bought a pair for everyone on my design team."

"When I travel, I often bring sample pieces to display at trunk shows held at specialty boutiques. This suitcase is large enough to pack the clothes flat instead of folding them. I like the fact that it has a protective hard-side exterior, but it is surprisingly lightweight. It's a very easy, and chic, way to travel with my designs."
