A Matter of Life and Death
Onsite OHS, No. 101
More than 100,000 civilian contractors are supporting NATO forces in Afghanistan. Many of these businesses, as well as U.S. government agencies, have tapped Onsite OHS to provide doctors, nurses, medical equipment, and pharmaceuticals to deployed personnel. Almost half of the company's 200 employees are U.S. military veterans, including physician Alexander Brazalovich, who flew medevac helicopters in the Vietnam War and is shown here examining a patient at a NATO military base in Kandahar. "Hiring veterans is important, because they have done things very few people in the world could succeed at," says Kyle Johnson, who founded Onsite in 2008 after serving as a hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy. Today, the $19 million company provides medical services to commercial and government clients worldwide.
