BECOME A MENTOR
To qualify to be a mentor, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Mentors are leaders. They are veteran business owners or top level executives with broad business management experience and a proven track record of business success.
- Mentors are supportive and are capable trainers/teachers. They are willing to share the lessons learned from their achievements and failures. They have strong communication and listening skills.

Mentors are committed to the program. Mentors are willing to:
- Commit to spending about 3-5 hours per month communicating with the entrepreneur primarily by phone and/or email, with the possibility of occasional in-person meetings or site visits;
- Attend an orientation session and one workshop session;
- Be available to complete monthly check-ins with the Clinton Foundation; and
- Help the entrepreneur set specific, measurable goals and develop a plan to achieve those goals.
WHAT MENTORS CAN EXPECT FROM THE EMP
The Clinton Foundation and Inc. magazine will:
- Set up the mentoring relationships;
- Conduct monthly check-ins with the mentor and entrepreneur;
- Run workshops and networking opportunities; and
- Help to manage the entrepreneur?s progress.
BENEFITS TO THE MENTOR
- Personal satisfaction. Helping another entrepreneur succeed by ?giving back? the knowledge and support that the mentor has received in the past.
- Sharpened leadership and interpersonal skills. Mentors sharpen their own skills as they challenge and coach their mentee.
- Source of Recognition. Mentoring is generally considered one of the hallmarks of leadership in many organizations.
- Networking. Opportunities to network with other mentors and entrepreneurs.
