7 Business Scams (and How to Avoid Them)

How the scam works: Faxes are sent urging business owners to value their business, in the hope that they will sell. Owners who are tempted to cash in agree to the request, and are charged "valuation" fees of several thousands of dollars. Of course, they never hear about the valuation once they have paid the money.

How you can avoid it: If you are serious about selling, search for a good valuation agency yourself.
