How the scam works: Small businesses receive invoices for services they never actually received. Such bogus invoices urge the recipient to renew the service, and busy accounting departments often assume they have to pay up, since they are apparently already using the service. How you can avoid it: Have a policy in place to directly verify any such expenditures with the people or departments that would be using the service. |
