The Swedish-born mother and daughter team of Gun Nowak and Martina Arfwidson run Face Stockholm, a boutique cosmetics business headquartered in Hudson, N.Y. Nowak opened her first retail store in Stockholm in 1980, expanded throughout Sweden, and later joined with her daughter and took the business into the U.S. market. The high-end cosmetics company sells more than 160 shades of lipstick and 120 nail polish colors and is popular among celebrities such as Goldie Hawn and Whoopi Goldberg. The pair has three retail stores in the New York City area.
