Private sales are gaining popularity on the Web, and they are not just for designer clothes. We recently wrote about travel search engine Kayak's new Private Sale service, which makes it easier to hunt for bargains by sending out weekly e-mails with special deals negotiated with the site's most searched-for hotels. Yesterday, the New York Post story "In the club: 5 private sale sites" reviewed similar offerings from Jetsetter.com, Vacationist.com, VoyagePrive.com, BonVoyou.com, and RueLaLa.com. Many of the featured destinations are geared more toward pleasure than business, but the Post did spy one deal for a hotel in Washington, D.C.
