Jessica Aceti, Cap-sac LLC

FULL ESSAY

A. Hello! Our business is called Cap-sac. It is a modern line of convertible accessories (we also have non convertible accessories). Our mainstay is called "Cap-sac". It is a fanny pack for your head. The product folds into itself and can also be used as a purse. We plan on adding additional convertible products in the near future. The beginnings of the company stem back to 1992. My mother had 2,000 pieces of inventory and they were not moving because they were not marketed to a consumer audience. She had been targeting the ad specialty industry. In 2009, after thinking about it for a long time, I (her daughter) decided to bring them back and market them online. Because of the success of the brand, we are expanding the product line.

B. The economic recession has played a major role in our company. The essence of the product is straight from the 80's. It is a fun, lighthearded product (with a low price point). People need distractions in this climate and the intent of the product is to lend a moment of fun. The basis of the site is user generated content. From the start, we had this in mind when approaching the product through the consumer perspective. We want people to use the product as a means of creation. We have been successful thus far. The recession has also allowed for multiple trades in marketing as opposed to cash value. We are able to trade product/services for advertising which I think is specific to these times.

C. We would use the Alibaba.com and Newpreneur money to expand the product line and online community for lovers of Cap-sac and convertible accessories. We are currently developing ideas for product as well as culture based ideas to forward the Cap-sac movement.
