McAfee to Expand Web Security Services
McAfee (NYSE:MFE) has announced it will acquire ScanAlert, provider of the HACKER SAFE e-commerce site security certification service. Web sites earning HACKER SAFE certification benefit from a boost in consumer confidence, increased visibility in comparison shopping services, proactive monitoring, PCI (payment card industry) compliance, and McAfee SiteAdvisor integration.
E-commerce sites must undergo a thorough security audit, including scanning for vulnerabilities and verification of security fixes, to be certified as HACKER SAFE. This ensures that consumers are protected during and after they've submitted any personal or financial data. Sites must pass daily scans by ScanAlert to maintain their HACKER SAFE certification.
The acquisition, for approximately $51 million, should be finalized in the first quarter of 2008.
