Idearc Media, Multiplied Media to Offer IM Business Listings

 

Idearc Media (NYSE:IAR) has teamed up with Calgary, Canada-based Multiplied Media to deliver local business listings over instant messaging platforms. The agreement will make Multiplied Media's Poynt service and Idearc Media's Superpages.com directory available through Microsoft's Windows Live Messenger this fall.

As the first local search service to be available on IM, Poynt, Multiplied Media's local search offering, will reach some 70 million users in the U.S. Users simply add the Poynt address as a contact in Windows Live Messenger, set the location they wish to search from -- be it an address, landmark or zip code -- then type in the sort of business they are after.

In addition to business names and proximity, the Poynt service will also provide an address, phone number, driving directions and a map.
