Microsoft Unveils Small Business Phone System
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has unveiled a new user-friendly phone system designed and priced for small businesses. Microsoft Response Point helps deliver scalable, software-based solutions that support both standard and VoIP telephony.
D-Link Systems and Quanta Computer have released end-to-end VoIP phone systems based on the new Response Point platform. Aastra Technologies will introduce its own Response Point-based system in 2008.
The Quanta Syspine package, available starting at $2,500, includes a base unit with built-in analog telephone adapter, secure gateway and four phones. D-Link's VoiceCenter package includes five phones for roughly the same price but additional phone lines are priced at $139 instead of $159 with Quanta. Complete 20-phone systems from Quanta and D-Link are available for less than $5,500.
