Adobe, Yahoo! to Deliver Ad Revenue Generating Service
Adobe Systems (NASDAQ:ADBE) and Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) have together launched Ads for Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo!, an opt-in service that allows online commercial publishers to generate ad revenue by including contextual ads next to PDF-based content.
To join the program, publishers must register online, then upload their Adobe PDF content so that it can be ad-enabled. Ads are displayed within Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat in a panel adjacent to the content. Every time the PDF content is viewed, contextual ads are matched to it. The publisher can monitor ad performance through detailed reports, similarly to the way Web ads are tracked.
Ads for Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo! is free and requires no additional software. The program, currently in beta, is open to US-based publishers who produce content in English.
