Avaya Upgrades VoIP Offerings
The company offers enhancements to its IP telephony solutions businesses.
Avaya (NYSE:AV) has unveiled enhancements to its IP telephony solutions, including the latest version of the company's flagship IP telephony software, Avaya Communication Manager 5.0, and new Deskphones.
Communication Manager 5.0 gives IT administrators a more cost-effective and reliable way to implement end-to-end SIP. The software now features embedded SIP, allowing co-residency on a single server and eliminating the cost and management of multiple servers. New SIP trunk alternate routing is also available, which allows for the redistribution of voice, video and data when network congestion arises.
New SIP firmware for Avaya endpoints includes the one-X IP Deskphone, which can be SIP enabled. Leveraging open, multimedia communications for improved productivity and mobility, the phones can interchange between SIP and IP environments. Features include the ability to see the availability of colleagues, and mobility. Extension to Cellular bridges a user's cell phone to their landline extension, and SIP Visiting User lets users access their Deskphone features from any phone on the network.
