Sony to Launch HD Videoconferencing System
Sony of Canada (NYSE:SNE) has plans to introduce a 1080i high-definition videoconferencing system. The PCS-XG80 will be priced at CDN$9,000 and available in spring 2008.
The PCS-XG80 offers a frame rate of 60 fields-per-second, and allows users to share PC data at 30 fps. It features dual stream functionality, enabling users to send two streams of live HD information simultaneously, and comes equipped with six-site, multi-point conferencing. The new system supports 20 different languages, and offers wide-band stereo audio.
"We believe that the PCS-XG80 delivers the best available video and audio quality on the market for those large corporate organizations as well as small-to-medium enterprises, healthcare institutions, education establishments and government bodies that are looking for cost-effective, best-of-breed and proven communication technologies," Rick Perkins, marketing manager videoconferencing, public displays and digital signage, broadcast communication solutions group at Sony of Canada, said in a statement.
