Hughes Signs EMBARQ to Resell Broadband
The deal offers rural small businesses access to broadband satellite Internet.
Hughes Network Systems, a division ofHughes Communications (NASDAQ:HUGH) Hughes Communications (NASDAQ:HUGH), has signed EMBARQ (NYSE:EQ) to resell its HughesNet broadband satellite Internet access to EMBARQ's rural small business customer base.
HughesNet service is delivered via a compact satellite modem connected to a small outdoor antenna at the customer site, enabling high-speed communication from PCs and laptops with geostationary satellites positioned in space. Packages start at $59.99 per month.
"Selling HughesNet high-speed Internet service to the small-business owner is the latest initiative to highlight our commitment to this market segment," Susan Sarna, vice president of marketing and product management for EMBARQ, said in a statement.
