Zimbra Upgrades Collaboration Suite
The applications include enhancements that expand access across desktops and devices.
Zimbra, an open-source next-generation e-mail solutions provider and a Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) company, has unveiled the latest version of its collaboration solution. Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) 5.0 includes hundreds of enhancements that expand its access across desktops and devices, while improving Web-based productivity for small businesses.
New features include native e-mail, contacts, calendar, and task synchronization from Zimbra to Outlook 2007; access via BlackBerry handsets, J2ME-enabled devices, and mobile Web browsers, including Apple iPhone; a task monitor that tracks start and due dates, priority and progress; and integrated Web-based instant messaging. It also allows users to store files from e-mails in Zimbra Briefcase instead of as an e-mail attachment and share Briefcase folders with co-workers.
ZCS 5.0 Open Source Edition is free. The commercially supported ZCS 5.0 Network Edition is available for a 60-day free trial and can be accessed via the Zimbra Web site.
