Ricoh Americas has unveiled a new advanced scanning solution exclusive to its multifunctional products (MFPs). Modular Object Scanning Technology 2.0 by document automation solutions provider Fabsoft, is a plug-in for FabSoft's core product, Reform, that enables users to tailor the solution to meet document workflow needs. The plug-in comes equipped with security features designed for small and midsize businesses, particularly in the healthcare, government, insurance and legal markets.

Company information is protected using 512-bit encryption for all communication between the MFP and the server, as well for login requests, data transfers and scanned documents. It also features an adjustable MFP display screen that can be modified for each department or group to ensure the appropriate tabs and distribution commands are readily accessible. Users can opt to scan to a networked printer, fax or e-mail system.

"FabSoft Modular Object Scanning Technology 2.0 is designed to deliver proficient and convenient document workflow to small and medium-sized companies," Gary Hollfelder of FabSoft, said in a statement. "These businesses will find that with this solution they can distribute and store documents with greater ease and achieve a higher level of productivity."
