D-Link is expanding its Green Ethernet technology series with two new small business Gigabit switches designed to decrease energy costs by reducing power consumption without sacrificing operational performance.

In addition to the DGS-2200 series five- and eight-port desktop switches launched last year, D-Link will start shipping the new DGS-1016D 16-port and DGS-1024 24-port rack-mountable switches. The new products comply with both the Restriction of Hazardous Substances and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directives.

"The safety and integrity of our products are of great concern to us and key to our relationship with customers," Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link Systems, said in a statement. "We were proud to introduce the industry's first Green Ethernet products and are pleased to extend this leadership with the introduction of two higher port density switches."
